The City of Temple picked up the first gauntlet hurled in 2017 and old rivalries were instantly rekindled…

The October 14th collision of local cities looked to be the most massive yet, as Copperas Cove and Salado joined the fray!

At the 9/20/17 scheduled Salado Board of Aldermen meeting, President Richard Bean did the honors as herald, reading the challenge from the City of Harker Heights to send a contingent to the Dodgeball Challenge.The Chief Executive of the Rotary Club of Harker Heights also left the challenge scroll, along with a couple of dodgeballs, with his old friend, Mayor Skip Blancett, “so you can practice.”

Mat Rutherford, described as an “adrenaline junkie” in the preceding article, is hoisted by team captain Diego Yorsky of the City of Temple’s official team, “You Can’t Dodge This,” in a detail from the mass team photo taken just before the tournament games began.  Mat in fact went on to receive his second straight “Adrenaline Award” for his high-energy style of play.
